Based on the medieval chant ‘O Maria, Virgo Pia’, the Magnificat was commissioned by Oriel College, Oxford to celebrate 30 years of the admittance of female students. It was first performed by the chapel choir, conducted by William MacDonald with Johnson Lau, organist, on Lady Day, Sunday March 6th, 2016.

	The Nunc Dimittis was commissioned in 2017 by the Provost of Oriel College, Moira Wallace, to thank the Oriel Chapel Choir, and its Director David Maw, for their music during her Provostship. It was first performed by the chapel choir, conducted by David Maw with Johnson Lau, organist, at the College’s Patronal Evensong, Candlemas, Friday February 2nd, 2018.
