This gentle piece for mixed voices is a contemporary reflection on Benjamin Britten’s setting of Walter de la Mare’s text, the fifth song in his well-loved Friday Afternoons set. Commissioned by the London Youth Choir, Ben Parry’s A New Year Carol was performed by the choir on 22 November 2013 – the centenary of Britten’s birth.
