The relentless, energetic movement of the left-hand pattern is in contrast to the static, bold chords of the right hand. Eventually the right hand succumbs to the restless feel of the left, producing a feel of drive, momentum and hope.

Originally from the Faber Music publication Perpetual Motion, a collection of 10 evocative pieces written for young pianists to explore and enjoy, these pieces have been transcribed for marimba or vibraphone by Dame Evelyn Glennie with the intention of concentrating on musicality:
