This piece is masculine and rich in sound. The pounding rhythm of the left hand drives this piece forward and it should not waver. The tempo can be faster or slower than indicated but the intensity of the sound must be strong throughout, as one imagines the pounding feet and swirling movements of a rustic dance.

Originally from the Faber Music publication Perpetual Motion, a collection of 10 evocative pieces written for young pianists to explore and enjoy, these pieces have been transcribed for marimba or vibraphone by Dame Evelyn Glennie with the intention of concentrating on musicality:
